Orienteering Canada is looking for a mapper to work in Manitoba
in 2022.
Job duties: Field checking and mapping of several forested and prairie areas in
Manitoba and possibly North-Western Ontario, in particular: Grand Beach
Provincial Park, Spruce Woods Provincial Park, Lavenham, MB, Neepawa, MB and
Kenora, ON areas. Mapping must be done to current ISOM standards using current
orienteering mapping software, such as OCAD.
Terms of employment: Temporary contract position for 8 to 16 weeks depending on
the precise locations of mapping areas that will be defined, and the estimation
of the time needed to complete the project.
Work start: Spring 2022
Language of work: English
Wage: $25 – $30 per hour depending on experience. 40 hours/week max
Benefits: Assistance to find housing and a vehicle will be provided.
Locations of work: Spruce Woods Provincial Park, MB; Grand Beach Provincial
Park, MB; Lavenham, MB; Neepawa, MB; Kenora, ON
Skills requirements: No formal education requirements, however applicants must
be fully conversant with International Orienteering Federation standards for
preparation of orienteering maps including ISOM and ISSOM. Five or more years of
orienteering mapping experience. Applicants must be able to provide examples of
orienteering maps previously completed and to be proficient with OCAD mapping
software.
Applicants must be able to work in Canada (Canadian residence or work permit).
